Metrobus 13 (UWW13X) is now in the care and ownership of Martin Clitheroe.  She was delivered new to West Yorkshire PTE in March 1982 as fleet number 5013.  Deregulation in October 1986 saw service cuts come in and the 5 year old Olympians were put up for sale, their young age making them more remunerative than the Atlanteans, etc which were to soldier on.

Metrobus in Orpington bought quite a few of these Olympians through Ensign.  UWW13X was purchased, along with 10 of her siblings in 1987 to operate route 261.  A little under 10 years later she was sold, finally ending her front line service days with Arriva North East.  Latterly used as a catering vehicle for TV and film set work, she was finally parked up in Alan Hardwick's yard in April 2009 where she sat unloved for the rest of the year.

Martin had been looking to preserve one of the remaining Metrobus Roe-bodied Olympians and his options were running out.  UWW16X has been in France for some time and CUB69Y had been enquired about but is still seeing regular service for Garnett's in Bishop Auckland.  Then Bus & Coach Preservation landed on the doorstep and there was UWW13X, looking unloved in Hardwick's yard.   A quick phone call, a couple of visits and the deal was done.  13 was heading back to south east London!

Sadly, she disgraced herself with an oil leak on the journey home resulting in her having to finish her trip on the back of a recovery lorry (resulting in one posting on an e-group about her demise - fortunately not true!).

Work has since commenced on her.  The corroded oil cooler has been sent away for repair and the tables and seats removed from the lower deck so that they can be replaced in their correct positions.  Original Metrobus blinds (both white and dayglo) have been installed.

A mild winter in 2011 has meant that work has progressed rapidly on 13.  Seats have now been properly arranged on both decks, the alternator removed for refurbishing due it being faulty, work has started to replace the external emergency door tap, the rear light clusters have been replaced with original style units - it's all go!
