The prototype London MCW Metrobus was bought from Arriva Midlands North in September 2001 and was later sold to Andy Gadsby (also owner of T1101) in November 2005.

When new, TOJ592S was built as a double-door demonstrator and painted into London Transport colours.  However, she never saw active service in these colours.  The following photos feature TOJ592S in an MCW publicity leaflet.

After demonstrating in London - which resulted in a large number of vehicles being ordered - TOJ592S was demonstrated elsewhere around the country.

After being used as a demonstrator, TOJ592S found a home at Stevensons of Uttoxeter.

The two photos below show TOJ592S as acquired by Andy.  Please note in the rear view below, the bulge around the engine bay.  The bus was originally built with a  5-cylinder Gardner engine, which Gardner wanted back so the bus was fitted with a standard Gardner, which did not quite fit - hence the bulge!

Andy put the bus on loan to Midland Classic.  While in their care (and working in competition to Arriva!), the vehicle was repainted over the course of a bank holiday weekend into a pseudo-London livery, as seen below.

There was a running day to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the formation of Stevensons of Uttoxeter.  TOJ592S was repainted into the livery it wore when first at Stevensons.

In 2007, Andy decided to sell the vehicle to Midland Classic, where the vehicle remains to this day.
